April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball player from the United States is part of a select number of women who been awarded medals at multiple Olympics. The American will play in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic medal along with Alix Klineman who is a first time Olympian. In addition, Ross wants to secure their first Olympic gold. As she turns 39, it could be Ross' final chances to secure an Olympic gold medal. She is nevertheless confident that winning the gold medal is in reach. Ross said on NBC Boston that he believes If they can play at their absolute best, or even a good game, then we'll be in the running for gold. In addition, I'm hoping to have the chance to have luck. Ross is born the 22, 1982, in Costa Mesa California. She resided there with her family. Ross went on to play in a myriad of sports as a student at Newport Harbor High School. In her time as a college athlete, she also played indoor volleyball and track. She was clearly the best player in indoor volleyball. In her time at the high school level According to her university bio, she was middle blocker, outside player, and setter. She was awarded one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999 for her efforts. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her the Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Ross and Klineman have been doing what they do as of 2017. The reality is that Ross was an already a well-established player in the volleyball world prior to the pairing. She was a winner of multiple major tournaments with two different partners, one of which is a volleyball icon. From 2007 until 2013, she was partnered with Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be an impressive force on the international circuit, winning the world championship in 2009 together. They took home a Silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor clinched gold winning over them. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor decided to retire. The duo went on to take home the bronze medal for beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was part of the Trojans from USC during high school after she finished high school. The time she spent at USC was impressive. The Trojans were an All-American as well as Pac-10 freshman of the year in the year 2000. The Trojans even made it to the Final Four. After her sophomore year, she went through a heartbreaking personal tragedy, but was able to be named an All-American. The last two years in the program she led the Trojans towards the top of the mountain by winning two multiple national championships. As an individual Ross established her status as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award went to the most outstanding female player from the United States. Ross took a course in international relations at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, never had the privilege of watching her daughter become famous in beach volleyball. Ross's mother Margie died in the year 2001. Ross was still a USC sophomore. It was discovered that she had breast cancer. She holds her mom close to her heart. Margie is a constant source of inspiration to her, in and out of the water.
