Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents, Winona Ryder's parents, chose her name after her hometown. Michel Horowitz was her father as well as Cynthia Palmer, his mother was both an author and editors. Ryder's dad came from a Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria who is half-sister to Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder as well as her entire family moved to Mendocino County in California in the year 2000, when Ryder was just seven. In those days, there were no electric lights. Ryder, who read a lot at the age of 12, became a bookworm because Ryder did not have access to television. Ryder started taking acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she reached the age of 12. She landed her debut role on the big screen in 1986 at the age of 15 young. Ryder was bullied throughout her time in high school. Her performing career, she thought to help, could have helped her. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. She continued to pursue her goals. Beetlejuice, a 1988 Tim Burton film, was her first major break. Ryder continued to play successful roles in many movies. In 1993, Ryder was in the running two times for the Academy Awards.
